Introduction
This manual contains the necessary information, instructions, and blueprints for the construction of an integral silencer/suppressor for the RUGER 10-22, semi-automatic carbine. When fully modified to the specifications presented in this manual, the 10-22 carbine will reduce the total noise emitted to a very tolerable level somewhat likened to a pellet rifle discharge.

Before construction, a simple background in silencer basics is needed. Thanks to modern day television programming, most people are totally unaware of what a silencer will and will not do. For many years, small, totally ineffective silencer units have been portrayed as emitting an almost inaudible discharge when fired. Recently, however, more realistic programs have accurately portrayed the silencer/suppressor in its use and effectiveness.

A good quality silencer will not completely eliminate discharge noise from the firearm. It will greatly reduce the total noise emitted during firing, and the resulting sound will blend in with any background noises. It is quite probable for someone standing a few yards away to not even notice the discharge of an effectively matched firearm and suppressor unit.
