Supressors Vol 3 for AR-7
Introduction
The purpose of this manual is to provide the necessary information, instructions, and machinist drawings for the construction of an integral suppressor for the CHARTER ARMS AR~7, .22 caliber carbine. The total noise emissions from a weapon modified to the specifications presented here will be reduced greatly when compared to a standard unmodified rifle.
The Charter Arms AR-7 is a semi-automatic carbine chambered for the .22 long rifle cartridge. Functioning is by simple blowback. The weapon was designed in 1959-1960 by the ARMALITE DIVISION of the FAIRCHILD ENGINE and AIRPLANE CORPORATION. ARMALITE actively researched various methods of incorporating the latest technology in plastics and non-ferrous metals from the aerospace industry into the manufacturing of military firearms.
The resultant product was a weapon of absolute simplicity, and of the rather novel design of being a stowaway weapon designed as a "survival gun " for military applications. The entire receiver, barrel, and magazine are stored in the plastic buttstock when not in use. Also, the buttstock is filled with poly-styrene foam in the remaining cavities to provide floatation for the gun in either the "stowed " or assembled condition.
